2 Pages in Annie's Journal

More journal pages for you to see today!  These were created in Annie's journal.
The background and the green girl is one of the things I did in her journal during a previous swap, but I did not have time to finish it.  So, when I got her journal back I added to the same page!

I started this one during our mindfulness workshop:
I did the background and then added to it a few days later.  I REALLY like it!

This is the last journal I get to have as part of our summer swap!  I cannot believe that summer is over so fast - where did it go??  Yikes!  On that note, today I am flying home to Texas for a few weeks so that I can spend time with mom and dad and get a short escape from school!

Thanks for stopping by, "see" ya soon.

4 Pages in Angela's Journal

This summer we had a social work student in one of our art therapy classes!  Angela was great and we really enjoyed having her around.  She participated in our swap and I was lucky enough to get to work in her journal.  So, today I am going to share with you what I did!!  First I did a typical-to-my-style spread:

And I loved it.  Then I added these weird jewelry ads:

And I made a "randomness collage"

It includes a print our teacher used to demonstrate printmaking:

and lastly, I left her with a tracing of my print from printmaking class and wrote her a note:
I also used all of my new washi tapes!  I am addicted to those things... I own way too many rolls, but not nearly enough!

Hope you guys enjoyed the journal peek!  Thanks for stopping by, have a great Monday!

Warped Tour! (Lots of Photos!)

Before I show you my Warped Tour experience, I have another ICAD.. the 27th of July:

Ok..now onto the fun stuff!! On the morning of the 28th, my friend Erika and I drove down to Orlando for Warped Tour.  Here we are about 40 minutes after arrive - already super sweaty:

We saw 5 bands!  Motion City Soundtrack, Forever The Sickest Kids, Hands Like Houses, Go Radio, and Sleeping With Sirens (although we only saw 2 SWS songs since it started to rain and there was lightening).  Here are some photos:

I got this shirt from Canvas Foundation:

After the show postponed for the rain we decided not to wait it out and just go check into our hotel and shower and get some food!  Neither of us had ever been to Downtown Disney so we decided to go there and eat at T-Rex Cafe:

It was awesome... here are some more photos:

And I got this very amusing shirt:

Its so applicable to thesis writing.

Here are a few more photos from Downtown Disney:

We had a great time and we were exhausted by 930pm! So we went to bed!!  The next day we drove back to Tallahassee after eating breakfast at Ihop.  We stopped in Lake City and had lunch at Cracker Barrel... it was a nice day and we got back by 2:45p and had plenty of time to do productive things - Erika did homework before going to work and I cleaned my apartment (MUCH NEEDED) and cooked dinner.  AWESOME trip and we plan to do it next year too.  ICADs from Sunday and Monday:

Ok... this post has gone on for long enough... hope you enjoyed all the pictures!! "See" ya soon and have a GREAT weekend.

Mindfulness Workshop

Our last weekend class this summer was last weekend.  It was about mindfulness and led by art therapist Patricia Isis.  I wanted to show you some of the art that we did in that class - we did a LOT of art.  The firs thing we did was make an art piece about our inner or outer landscape... I combined mine and did it all in one piece:

And we did a lot of breath drawings... you notice your breath and draw it.  Here is the first one:
I took notes on top of the drawing later.  The second one was when we imagined something stressful...for me that was thesis:

The Wendy's logo got added later... I had a spicy chicken sandwich and it was yummy.  The final breath exercise was done while we had our hand on a partners breath and we drew their breath.

It reminds me of teeth.  Our next activity was a mindful "painting"... we could use whatever materials we wanted from the center table but we couldnt really take them back to the table... we had to go to the table and pick up a piece, dip a brush in glue or paint... and then walk back add it to our piece and then repeat until we were finished.  Here is my piece:
I like it, but I think I will probably add words to it later, once I figure out what it is supposed to say.

On the 2nd day of the workshop we made a piece that represented our feelings about someone or something that annoys us or bothers us... I made this one about my relationship with my brother:
Then we had to create a safe environment to put it in:

I really enjoyed this workshop... its hard for me to be mindful just doing regular old things, but the more I try the better I get at it... it is a life long learning process so I will just have to keep on trying.  I was really glad that we got to make a lot of art since I have been neglecting my own art making in order to finish my thesis proposal.  Thankfully that is over and I get about 2 weeks off before I come back and start school again!

I hope you guys enjoyed the photos from the workshop!!  Have a wonderful day.
